Nursing at Virtua
Nurses play a vital role in patient care, supporting nearly every aspect of a person’s healthcare journey. At Virtua, our nurses are among the very best in the country—ensuring the highest-quality care and safety for patients and families.
Virtua nurses are among an elite group that has achieved the premier national designation for nursing excellence, known as Magnet® Recognized. This prestigious distinction shows that our nurses meet rigorous standards for dedication, knowledge, compassion, and superior patient care.
Only about 8 percent of U.S. hospitals earn Magnet® status, which is considered the ultimate benchmark for measuring quality of care. The recognition is given by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the world’s largest and most respected nurse credentialing organization.
Other Prestigious Awards Recognize Outstanding Nursing at Virtua
The Beacon Award for Excellence in Critical Care, a national honor from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses
The PRISM Award® for excellence in medical/surgical care from the Academy of MedSurg Nursing.
Numerous honors for programs in which nursing plays a vital role—from cancer care to bariatric surgery, cardiac services to joint replacement, and many others.

Virtua Nurse Day: An Annual Day to Celebrate Our Nurses
Each year, the fourth Thursday of September is Virtua Nurse Day, as designated by the New Jersey State Legislature. The day honors our nurses’ commitment to excellence. It's also a time to bring all Virtua nurses together, system-wide, to network, learn, and have fun. Take a look!
